Michael Erfe is an associate of the firm who works in the areas of Criminal Law, Family Law, Immigration, and Consumer Bankruptcy. Prior to working at The Wright Firm, Michael worked for the Tarrant County District Attorney's office and the U.S. Small Business Administration. He graduated from The University of Texas School of Law in Austin and did his undergraduate studies at Rice University in Houston. Along the way, he has also studied Mandarin at Beijing University in China; Spanish in Sevilla, Spain; International Commercial Law at Bucerius School of Law in Hamburg, Germany; and recently started a Masters in Chinese Law at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

Michael is an active member of the Tarrant County Asian American Chamber of Commerce where he serves as legal counsel.

International commerce and trade is a side interest, and Michael is a licensed customs broker out of the port at DFW. He is interested in import/export compliance issues and international trade.

Criminal Law

Michael is a former prosecutor at the Tarrant County District Attorney's office. As a prosecutor, Michael regularly negotiated DWI's and is well-versed in DWI laws and regulations. He has handled cases from the beginning arrest all the way to trial or probation revocation.

Aside from DWI's, Michael also has experience dealing with drug cases, assaults, probation revocations, occupational licenses, requests for expunctions/non-disclosures in Dallas and the surrounding counties.

As a juvenile prosecutor in Tarrant County, Michael saw the broad spectrum of cases regarding young offenders. He understands how the system is supposed to work for the benefit of youthful offenders, and he brings this knowledge to work for his clients.

Michael also makes it a priority to keep these offenses off of his client's records as much as possible so that it will not plague them in the future.

Family Law

In law school, Michael participated in the Gabrielli National Family Law Moot Court competition. He continues his interest in family law at The Wright Firm, LLP by handling divorce cases and a wide range of other family law issues.

At times, family law cases can spill into other areas of law such as criminal law. It is important to have counsel that can prioritize and address all aspects of your case.

Immigration Law

During the summer after his first year of law school, Michael volunteered at Catholic Charities Immigration Services. He worked mainly on their asylum cases. At The Wright Firm, Michael works on more broad-based family and business immigration cases.

One of the most common problems in immigration law is the ramifications of a criminal offense. It is important to have competent legal representation that can address both issues in order to avoid serious immigration consequences.

Bankruptcy Law

If you are faced with mounting debts and cannot help but fall farther into debt, Michael can help exhaust all possibilities to deal with your creditors. If alternatives do not work, Michael can help you file bankruptcy under Chapters 7 or 13 if you qualify.
